WEST CHICAGO, IL (April 23, 2018) — On April 22, 2018, members of the Chicago Metro Presbytery declared that Faith Community Church is now, "[C]onstituted a church according to the Word of God and the faith and order of the Presbyterian Church in America."
Members of Faith Community Church gathered together to celebrate their newfound identity as a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) Sunday night. Formerly part of the Reformed Church in America, the evangelical congregation voted to switch denominations on January 14, 2018, after several years of discernment regarding which Reformed denomination best matched their theological position on the inerrancy of Scripture.
"Faith Community Church has taken a bold stand for truth and its future by transferring to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)," said Ron Sanford, former pastor of Faith Community Church, "The essence of what it means to be a denomination is to be united around common doctrinal convictions. The PCA's commitment to the inspiration, inerrancy, sufficiency, and authority of the Word of God, and its commitment to holding each other accountable to its doctrinal standards, makes the PCA a wonderful new home for Faith Community."
