Dear FCC Family,
This Sunday we will be finishing our study in the book of Philippians. The Apostle Paul concludes his book as warmly as he begins it by giving a farewell that emphasizes the unity they have as brothers and sisters in God’s family. He ends this brief letter with a final blessing that calls their attention to the abundance of grace they have received in Jesus: “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with your spirit” (Phil 4:23). I encourage you before Sunday to spend a few minutes reading these verses and meditating on Philippians 4:21-23, or even reading through the whole book–which can be done in about 20 minutes!
As we transition into the Thanksgiving and Advent season, please note the following dates:
This Sunday, November 17: During our normal Sunday school hour we will gather for a congregational meeting in the Mission Center. At the meeting I will share a brief devotional, a Refocus 2020 update, and discuss the Christmas Celebration outreach event to be held at our church on December 8, 3-5 pm. Susie Wetherington will share an update on our missional prayer efforts and Ryan Lorimer will provide an exciting update on mentoring within our youth ministry. Valerie will share about how we can be praying for the outreach event and ways to volunteer. We see this as a wonderful opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers, and Valerie will provide ideas on how you can spread the word about this exciting event.
At the congregational meeting, we’ll also have a time of small group discussion and feedback. Our goal during this time is simply to listen and hear those things on your heart and mind–thoughts, celebrations, needs–related to our church family. We look forward to hearing from you this Sunday!
Finally, Next Sunday, November 24, 6-7 pm: We’ll hold a Missional Prayer Service of Thanksgiving in our Worship Center. The service will begin at 6:00 pm as usual, but we will not meet this month for a meal beforehand. Going into a busy holiday week, please consider pausing to celebrate all the good things the Lord has provided for us this year.
I am deeply grateful for all of you, and thank the Lord for the privilege of serving you as your pastor.
In Christ,
Pastor Rhett
