Our church is taking several proactive steps to help protect our congregation against COVID-19 and mitigate the spread of the virus in our community. We believe this is an aspect of obeying Jesus’ command to love our neighbor (Mark 12:31). In view of CDC recommendations and best practices for slowing the spread of the virus, the elders have determined to take the following steps:
1. Increased frequency of cleaning/sanitizing: In addition to the regular cleaning and sanitizing routine, there will be increased sanitizing of surfaces such as door handles, table surfaces, light switches, etc. Furthermore, a team will be overseeing the regular deep cleaning of the nursery.
3. Passing of the Peace and Prayer Circle: Over the next several weeks, we will continue the Passing of the Peace and the prayer circle during our service, but with some modifications. This Sunday we will pass the peace of Christ by joining together in a responsive reading. At the end of the service, following the final hymn, we will form the prayer circle for the Lord’s prayer, but in place of joining hands, we will extend our hands for the receiving of the benediction. During the worship service I will provide instructions regarding these adjustments. If you do contract an illness, we encourage you to remain at home; though of course we want to remain in communication with you. Please do not hesitate to contact me or an elder if you have a pastoral or mercy need.
As of now, we will not be canceling any services or events, but we are remaining diligent in monitoring the spread of the virus and how best to respond. If there are changes to the schedule we will alert the congregation via email and over the phone.
As always, please contact me or our administrative assistant, Rosa Matos, if you have any questions.
In Christ,
Pastor Rhett
