Midweek Update: May 6, 2020

Dear Faith Community Church Family,

Not many emotions get their own color, but envy is one of them. When a person passionately desires something someone else has, we say they are green with envy. We might envy another person’s job, health, significant other, place on the basketball team, “perfect family,” or fancy house. Envy’s motto is, “I want that!” It is looking at other people’s lives–what they own or what they’ve accomplished–and feeling that our life is incomplete and empty until we get those things. The book of Proverbs addresses our envy head-on. It shows us what envy looks like, what effects envy has on ourselves and our relationships, and how we can overcome it through the hope God has given us in Christ. This week our sermon will look at envy, along with its twin emotion, jealousy, from the perspective of Proverbs.

Here are a few items to have on your mind this week:

This Sunday (9:00am-10:00am): Celebrate Mother’s Day with FCC & a Surprise Gift

This Sunday, we invite the women of our church (and their families) to drop by the church between 9:00am and 10:00am to collect a special gift and to receive a greeting from the elders. We hope that this gift will demonstrate the love and thankfulness we have for the women of our church family. Simply drive by the church this Sunday morning, May 10, to pick up your item. Please enter from Hillview Ave and drive to the carport on the east side of the building before exiting on Main St.

Weekly Connection Call: Wednesdays at 9:00am

Each Wednesday at 9 am, we are holding a connection call for anyone who would like to connect with others over the phone. This will be a time to catch up, share prayer requests, and pray for one another.

To connect to the call, contact Larry LaBelle.

Send Us a Video Greeting

As a way to keep us connected during this time of quarantine, we invite you to share a brief video update with the church that we will share on our website and Facebook. If you would like to participate, please let me know by sending me an email at [email protected].

 Prayer Requests

  • Dennis Dobbs: Pray for a successful procedure to have a cyst removed next Monday and a smooth recovery.
  • Don Johnson: Pray for protection as he ministers to COVID-19 patients at Windsor Park senior living community and for the patients separated from family members due to coronavirus restrictions.
  • Todd Crabtree (Bill and Barb Crabtree’s son): Pray for healing after testing positive for coronavirus.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any needs or questions.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (Ephesians 6:10)

 In Him,

Pastor Rhett
