Midweek Update: September 2

Midweek Update: September 2

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Psalm 97:11-12 states, “Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!”  This past Sunday evening we had the privilege of gathering together to reflect on God’s sovereignty in Psalm 97 and to lift our voices in praise during our outdoor worship service. Many people contributed hours of personal time to the set-up and take-down for this event; thank you to all of you who volunteered your time and talents to “make it happen.” Thank you especially to our musicians for investing so much energy to make the evening so special. It was a beautiful service of singing, prayer, and fellowship.

Lord’s Supper This Sunday

This Sunday, September 6, we have the opportunity to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. I encourage you to prepare your hearts for this important sacrament by asking God to reveal to you any sin or error in your life preventing you from growing in Christian maturity, confessing your sin, and receiving God’s forgiveness. We’ll be looking at some of these issues through our text for Sunday’s sermon: 1 John 4:1-6. I also encourage you to remember that through the Lord’s Supper, we receive the strengthening grace of God, who is present with us through the Holy Spirit. Though the method of our Supper together may look a bit different during this season of COVID-19, the meaning of the Lord’s Supper has not changed.

Join the PCA in Practicing Gratitude for 30 Days in September

Our denomination has recently released a guided time of prayer for September, encouraging us to prayerfully and intentionally practice gratitude throughout this month. You can access and download the prayer guide here.

Interested in Sunday school? Please Contact Rosa Matos by Friday

Are you interested in joining us for an exploration of the book Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit by Christopher Wright? This Sunday school class will take place every other week. We would like to offer this class following the 10:30 am service (the class would take place from 11:30am-12:30pm); however, we recognize that for some of you this would require attending the second service instead of the first. In order to help us determine whether this would be the best time to offer the class, we ask that if you are able to attend this time, please contact Rosa Matos in the church office by Friday at [email protected]If this does not prove to be a beneficial time for most people who wish to participate, we will adjust our schedule accordingly.

I look forward to worshipping with you together this Sunday!

In Christ,

Pastor Rhett
