February 10 Midweek Update

February 10 Midweek Update

Dear Faith Community Church Family,

The book of Acts tells the exciting story of the early days of the church after Jesus’ ascension. It details everything from the conversion of the masses on the day of Pentecost to the martyrdom of Jesus’ disciples, such as Stephen and James. It follows the early Christian community as they bear witness to the truth of the Gospel. In the midst of severe opposition, the message of the Gospel spreads throughout the known world as God uses ordinary people, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to “turn the world upside down” (Acts 17:6).

Jesus tells his disciples in Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” This calling is for us today; we too are witnesses to Jesus and to his Gospel. We are a community called into fellowship with our triune God, given a mission, and empowered by the Spirit to bear witness to our Savior. This Sunday we begin with Acts 1:1-5 as we embark on our journey through the book of Acts with a new series: You Will be my Witnesses.
