Midweek Update: April 21

Midweek Update: April 21

Dear Faith Community Church Family,

Our God does great things we sometimes simply don’t expect. He works surprises that lead to great joy. In Acts 3:1-26, Peter and John come upon a man, lame from his birth, begging for money. Peter and John stop to help this poor man by giving him something even greater than a little cash. By the power of the resurrected Jesus, Peter heals the man. “And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.” (Acts 3:8) But after this miracle, the spectators, amazed at what has just happened, are in for yet another surprise. Peter, taking the opportunity to speak to the amazed onlookers, lifts up his voice and shares about the risen Jesus, the one who caused this man to be healed. The miracle is a sign that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah and that he now reigns to bring the blessing of salvation to Israel and the nations. Peter’s message is a call to repentance and faith: turn from sin and place your faith in Jesus, so that you may have your sins wiped away and experience the blessing and refreshment of life in Christ (Acts 3:19-21).

Haiti Fundraiser and Donation Drive!

Fundraising Drive: If you would like to donate financially toward the trip to help the team raise support, you can (1) write a check with “Haiti” in the memo line and drop it in the offering plate in the lobby, or (2) give online (with a note designating your gift toward Haiti) at https://www.faithchurchwc.org/life-together/give-online.

Donate Items for School and VBS in Haiti: There are specific items the team is planning to bring this summer. These include jump ropes, soccer balls (deflated), colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, scissors, construction paper, bubbles, glue sticks, children’s watercolor paint sets, pipe cleaners, and popsicle sticks. If you would like to donate items, you may drop them off on the designated table in room 8.

Please continue to pray for the spread of the gospel in Haiti, the preparations for the trip, and for the equipping, health, and protection of local Haitian Christian leaders and our team.

Walking in the Spirit Adult Sunday School Class (11:00am, Worship Center)

On Sunday we began a seven-week study on learning how to live a Spirit-led life. We have ordered additional books which will be available on the table in the narthex this Sunday. If you missed last week or do not yet have the book, I encourage you to pick up a copy on Sunday and join us for the class. Cost of the book is $5.00 (payments can be placed in the offering plate in the narthex, with a memo indicating adult Sunday school).
