Dear Brothers and Sisters,
During the past five weeks we’ve taken time to listen to Christ’s heart for the church through his letter to Laodicea in Revelation 3, his calling to abide in John 15, and his compassionate concern for sinners in Matthew 9. On Sunday, Ted Powers also updated us on our partnership with Chicago Friends of Haiti and ESMI since the September earthquake. We got to hear how the Lord used our gifts to provide critical medical care for earthquake victims. I am once again so grateful to see the generosity of our congregation and to get a glimpse into the ways God used the giving of our church body to provide for the needs of fellow Haitian believers.
This Sunday we will return to the book of Acts. Acts 15:1-35 describes what is known as the “Jerusalem Council.” This passage in Acts addresses the vital question, “What is really required for someone to be a Christian?” On Sunday we will share in the Lord’s Supper together. Please take time beforehand to prepare your hearts to come before the Lord for this covenantal meal.
