Midweek Update: November 17, 2021

Dear Faith Community Church Family,

When you hear the word hope what comes to mind? For you, is hope something that only has to do with the future, but doesn’t have much effect on your present Christian life? In the Scriptures, the hope that God gives us is always intended to transform how we live in the present. This is what the Apostle Peter calls a “living hope” (1 Peter 1:3).

This Sunday, Teaching Elder Nick Swan will preach God’s Word from 1 Peter 1:3-12. In this passage, God gives the promise of a future inheritance so that we can live as a people of hope in the midst of trials and persecution in the present life.

I will be departing tomorrow (Thursday) to visit family in Birmingham and will return to the office Tuesday, November 23. If there is a pastoral emergency or if you have a pastoral need, please contact one of our elders, Larry LaBelle and Tim Wierenga.

Summer Refresh Update

In the summer, our Refresh team dedicated themselves to the creation of a mother’s room and painting the wainscoting in the Mission Center. In the next couple of weeks, be on the lookout for further updates to paint and decor in the narthex and Mission Center right in time for Advent. Thanks to Tim Wierenga, Kristi Wright, and Katie Wetherington for their diligence and hard work in these areas!
