July 20, 2022 Midweek Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This Friday morning I’ll be departing for Les Cayes, Haiti. I am eager to see how the Lord will use our team to further the advancement of the Gospel through us during this next week. In James 1:5, we read “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” Please pray that the Lord would give the team wisdom that comes from above. There are so many needs that we could seek to meet, but we need the direction of God’s Spirit to know what he wants us to focus on and whom he wants us to serve during this trip. If you would like to sign up for the Haiti trip email updates, you can do so by contacting the church office.

This Sunday, Don Johnson will share God’s Word from 1 Peter 2:1-10. Don’s sermon is entitled “Called into His Marvelous Light.”

The following Sunday, Andy Iversen will preach from Romans 5:12-21. Andy, a close friend of mine, is a former missionary to New Zealand. He is on staff with Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) and a PhD student at Wheaton Graduate School.

Leadership Updates

Two exciting leadership updates: First, Dennis Dobbs is transitioning into the role of head leader for the Mercy Ministry Team. Dennis will be replacing Don Johnson, who has served faithfully as the head leader of the team for the past two years. Don will remain as a team member for the duration of this ministry year. Second, the elders welcome Joe Paglia as an advisory elder of the session. Joe will assist the session with shepherding and elder oversight. We are thankful for Dennis’s and Joe’s desire to serve our church in these roles.

Thank You for Participating in the Baby Bottle Drive!

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Caring Network baby bottle fundraiser, and to Jackie Huggins and our Mercy Ministry Team for organizing the drive. The following is from a letter of appreciation from Tracy Kerr with Caring Network: “By participating in our Coins for Caring Network Baby Bottle Drive, Faith Community Church raised $1,202.83 toward the work of Caring Network, enabling our counseling team to serve clients, share the gospel, help mothers choose life for their children and minister to those who have experienced abortion in the past.  Thank you!”
