Midweek Update: October 5, 2022

Midweek Update: October 5, 2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The second petition of the Lord’s Prayer is: “Your kingdom come.” The Lord’s Prayer is a kingdom prayerWhen we pray the Lord’s Prayer we are praying a God-sized prayer; we are asking for something that only he can do. We are praying that the Lord would use us–his people–to advance his kingdom through spreading the good news of salvation to our community and world. What a privilege!

As we shared recently at our Vision Night, the first step on the path to flourishing is becoming a church of kingdom prayer. This fall launches our monthly Kingdom Prayer Small Groups. The prayer focus of these gatherings will be to ask the Lord to use our church to be a part of the expansion of the Gospel in our communities.

On Sunday, October 23 (4:00-5:00pm) we will have our first small group meetings in homes. The homes where our Kingdom Prayer small groups will take place are the Evans’, the Huggins’, the Wetherington’s, and the Dobbs’. Light refreshments will be provided. A sign-up sheet will be available for you to write your name down for the small group you plan to attend; or you can sign up by contacting the church office. Kingdom prayer small group meetings will also take place on Sunday, November 27 (4:00pm) and Sunday, December 18 (4:00pm).

This Sunday we continue in our series Kingdom Prayer, focusing on the second petition, “Your kingdom come” in Matthew 6:9-13.
