Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Christian life is frequently described in the Scriptures as a battle. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,” the Apostle Paul says, “but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) We cannot win this spiritual battle if we rely on our own strength or resolve; instead, we must rely each day on the grace and power of our God. This Sunday we conclude our Kingdom Prayer sermon series, turning our attention to the final petition in the Lord’s Prayer: “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

A Better Hope: Advent at Faith Community Church
Advent will soon be here! The first week of Advent is Sunday, November 27. There are many places where we can search for hope in this world, but the only sure and lasting hope is found in Jesus Christ. In our Advent series, A Better Hope, we will focus on the hope of the coming Messiah in the Scriptures, a hope that will never fail, no matter what God’s people are experiencing.
One excellent way to prepare your heart for Christmas is through reading an Advent devotional. For anyone who would like to participate, we’ll be offering the well-known devotional by Paul David Tripp, Come Let Us Adore Him. Though we will not be meeting formally to discuss the book, we encourage you to consider meeting up with others to discuss what God is teaching you through reading the devotional this Advent season. The cost of the devotional is $10.00. You can place your order by contacting the church office (churchoffice[at]faithchurchwc.org) or signing the sign-up sheet in the narthex.
