January 4 Midweek Update

January 4 Midweek Update

Dear Faith Community Church Family,

Psalm 133 begins with the words “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” The death and resurrection of Jesus not only brings reconciliation between us and our Creator, it also brings reconciliation on a “horizontal” level–between us and others. The unity of God’s people is both a gift that we have been given as a community redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and it is also something we must actively pursue as his people. In a world that is fractured by much animosity and disunity, the unity of God’s family shines as a light in the midst of spiritual darkness.

This Sunday Don Johnson will share God’s Word from Psalm 133 with a sermon entitled “How Good and Pleasant It Is.”

Please note that our fellowship time will be at the normal time this Sunday, following the worship service.

As we start the new year, one important practice to begin (or renew) is the regular reading of God’s Word. One excellent resource for assisting with this practice is through a Bible reading plan offered by Crossway Publishers. Crossway has assembled multiple Bible reading and devotional plans to assist with your Bible reading. I encourage you to look into Crossway’s reading plans.

Sunday School Resumes this Sunday

All Sunday school classes will resume this Sunday, January 8 at 11:00am.

New Sermon Series in the Book of Hebrews

On Sunday, January 15, we will begin a new sermon series in Hebrews called The Glory of Christ. The Book of Hebrews is written to encourage Christians to stay the course in the midst of weariness, trials, and temptation. It is a book that is both comforting and challenging as it points us to the victory of Jesus over sin and death and keeps us focused on him as we face the challenges of the Christian life.

Congregational Meeting: January 22

Following the worship service on Sunday, January 22 we will hold a congregational meeting in the Mission Center. The meeting will include an update on our Called to Flourish three-year vision, a time for small group discussion, and a time of prayer for our church and community. All members are encouraged to attend.
