Midweek Update: January 25

Midweek Update: January 25

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In our sermon series in Hebrews, we’ve talked about the importance of staying faithful by staying focused on Jesus. In this week’s sermon text the author emphasizes the critical nature of not drifting away from the foundations of the Gospel: “we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it” (Hebrews 2:1-9). This is the first of several passages in Hebrews which warn us to be careful not to abandon “such a great salvation” (Hebrews 2:3), but to remain focused on Jesus Christ. On Sunday, we will ask the question, “How do we keep from drifting in the Christian life and remain anchored in our relationship with Jesus?” Our sermon text for this Sunday is Hebrews 2:1-9.
