May 3 Midweek Update

May 3 Midweek Update

Dear Faith Community Family,

When God calls us to himself, he calls us to a life of continual growth in the faith. This Sunday we come to Hebrews 6:1-10. In this passage, once again, we are exhorted to “go on to maturity” and warned against falling away in the faith (Hebrews 6:1,6). Though we have been cleansed of sin and justified in the sight of God by the blood of Jesus, we are called to have our character continually transformed by setting our eyes on our Savior, “the founder and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). By God’s grace, let’s keep pursuing Christlikeness each and every day, growing in godliness, and going deeper in our relationship with our great high priest, Jesus Christ.

It was wonderful to receive our new members last Sunday: Dan and Jenny Kok, Dave & Karin Sammons, and Peter, Peggy & Jamie Serena. I encourage you, if you have not already, to welcome our new members!

This Sunday we join to take the Lord’s Supper together. Please prepare your hearts beforehand through prayer and confession to prepare for this covenantal meal. Please note that on Sunday the bread will no longer be served in individual cups, but will be distributed in the communion tray with a gluten free option in the center.

Providing Meals for the Wetherington Family

Dan and Katie Wetherington are providing 24-hour care for Dan’s sister, Lois Sullivan, who recently suffered a stroke. The Wetheringtons anticipate hosting Lois between two and eight weeks. If you would like to provide a meal for the Wetherington family, you can sign up to do so at mealtrain.com.

Church Directory Updates

We are in the process of updating the church directory. If you have any changes to your profile, forms are now available in the narthex to update your information. If you prefer to use your own photo, please email it to the church office at [email protected]. Please notify the church if you would like a copy of the directory. We ask that you submit your updated or new forms to the church office by May 14th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ellen Horyn or Diane Walker in the church office.

Assisting with Online Meal Sign-Up

Are you interested in helping facilitate the online sign-up when an FCC member/family needs meals? Once you know dietary restrictions and the frequency of meals, it is a short and simple process to enter the information online and let the FCC office know the name and password for a bulletin announcement. If you would like to know more about serving in this way, please reach out to Don Johnson.

Prayer Requests

Wetherington Family: Please continue to pray for comfort for the Wetherington and Muzzy families; Katie’s sister, Cari, sustained serious injuries and lost a baby at 28 weeks pregnant in a car wreck two weeks ago. Please also continue to pray for healing for Lois Sullivan, Dan’s sister, living with the Wetherington family after experiencing a severe stroke.

Bill Crabtree: Pray for full healing for Bill who is undergoing additional testing after a recent hospitalization.

Karla Van Der Molen: Continue to pray for encouragement and perseverance for Karla as she navigates ALS.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Rhett
