Midweek Update: June 7, 2023

Midweek Update: June 7, 2023

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Our God is holy and perfect and all-powerful. He is the God who created the sun, moon, and stars, and who owns “the cattle on a thousand hills” (Psalm 50:10); and yet, he is the God who invites us to draw near. This Sunday we turn our attention to Hebrews 7:11-22, where we are told that Jesus alone is the perfect sacrifice. What the priests of the Old Covenant could not do–offer a once-for-all sacrifice for sin–Jesus himself has done. The Old Testament law could not save us, but praise God, through the sacrifice of Jesus “a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God” (Hebrews 7:19). I am eager to meet together with you this Sunday for worship and continue our sermon series in Hebrews, The Glory of Christ.
