Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Do you know how Hebrews 7 describes the salvation Jesus provides for his people? Hebrews describes it as a thoroughly complete salvation. We are told in Hebrews 7:25 that Jesus is “able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.” This is an “uttermost”, unlimited salvation. More specifically, it is first of all, a salvation that is fully comprehensive–Jesus’ sacrifice has paid for all of our sins. Secondly, it is a forever salvation. Once you belong to Jesus–once you submit to him as your Lord and trust him as your Savior–there is no chance, in this life or the next, that he will ever leave you or forsake you. No wonder the author of Hebrews calls this “such a great salvation”! This Sunday our sermon passage is Hebrews 7:23-28.
