Dear Faith Community Church Family,
Hebrews chapter 11 is sometimes called the “Hall of Faith,” and for good reason. It includes many godly examples of faithful believers from the Old Testament; people like Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, Joseph–and the list goes on. These persevering believers were anything but perfect; however, through difficulties, disappointments, and even persecution they kept their eyes set on the God of hope. We are given these examples in Hebrews 11 to spur us on in the faith and to encourage us to remain faithful to our Savior, Jesus, no matter the cost. This Sunday, come ready to worship our faithful God and to be challenged to remain faithful to our Savior as we begin to walk the “Hall of Faith” together. Our passage for this Sunday is Hebrews 11:1-7.

Children’s Ministry Opportunities at FCC
The mission of our children’s ministry at FCC is to equip children for a lifelong obedience to Jesus. Our goal is to walk with the children in our care through young adulthood in such a way that they attain the maturity of future leaders in the church. See below for two ministry opportunities.
Early Elementary Sunday School (Please respond as soon as possible)
Our children’s ministry is looking for 1-2 adult volunteers to help teach children’s Sunday school this year. Join Amy-Jo Wierenga in caring for our young members! Please get in touch with Valerie Austin if you are willing to help.
Crossroads Kids Club (Reply by Friday)
FCC is discerning whether we have the volunteers necessary to participate this year in Crossroads Kids Club, a ministry to children in local public schools. This opportunity is a once a week or once every other week commitment for approximately 90 minutes. Join us as we serve the local community through providing free after school care while sharing the gospel. Let Valerie Austin know if you are able to serve.
Embracing Hope Women’s Bible Studies
Tuesday Nights: this fall we will be studying Ephesians using a 10-week study guide by Lydia Brownback. We will begin meeting on September 12th from 7:00pm-8:30pm at the home of Jenn Wright. Book cost is $5.00. Please contact Jenny Johnson if you would like to attend.
Wednesday Mornings: this group meets from 10:00am-11:30am at FCC. We would love to have you join us as we study God’s Word together! Please contact Amy-Jo Wierenga for additional details.
WeGo Together for Kids Back to School Event
We received news that the Back to School Event where the notebooks donated by our church were distributed was a “total success.” Twelve hundred backpacks with school supplies were given to West Chicago children whose families could not afford to purchase these materials. Thanks again to everyone who participated in the WeGo Together for Kids drive by providing notebooks for students in our community.

Larry LaBelle: Please pray for peace and encouragement for Larry as he awaits upcoming back surgery on August 28.
Karla & Gary Van Der Molen: Pray for continued strength for Karla as she and Gary navigate her ALS.
Family of Jim Miller: Please pray for comfort for Phyl and her family following the death of Jim Miller, Phyl’s brother-in-law, who passed away recently from bone cancer.
