Midweek Update Oct. 18, 2023

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The book of Hebrews is one of the most theologically rich books in all the New Testament, but it is also a book that is immensely practical. In our passage for this Sunday, Hebrews 12:12-17, the author is very specific about how we are to put into practice what he has been preaching. He calls us, for example, to “[s]trive for peace with everyone.” He then tells us to be on our guard against anger and animosity by making sure that “no ‘root of bitterness’ springs up and causes trouble.” The biblical vision of discipleship includes both the transforming of our minds and the transforming of our daily lives. I am eager to join with you this Sunday to worship our triune God and to rejoice in the salvation we have been given in Jesus Christ.

A reminder that this Saturday, October 21, we will hold a special cello and harp concert featuring Jake and Hannah Muzzy. The concert will take place at 4:00pm in the Worship Center. This is an excellent opportunity to invite friends and family and to introduce them to our church community. To reserve your seats contact Jake Muzzy. The concert is “pay what you want.” You can make a donation online when you reserve your seat or at the concert by check or cash.
