Dear Brothers and Sisters,
“A prayerful Church is a powerful Church.” Charles Spurgeon once spoke these words to his congregation at the Metropolitan Tabernacle. And the London pastor was absolutely right. The flipside to Spurgeon’s statement is also true: a prayerless Church is a powerless Church. Why is this the case? Because prayer is the God-ordained means to bring change within and through God’s people. In wrestling prayer, not only are we transformed, but God uses us to bring about transformation in our congregation, our families, and our communities.
We had a wonderful Prayer Gathering on Sunday evening, and this Saturday we will join together for our first Prayer Drive. We’ll meet at the church at 10:00am and then caravan to locations in our community where we will remain in our cars as we pray together. Stops on the “prayer itinerary” include Caring Network, West Chicago Police Department, City Hall, and West Chicago High School. During our time, we’ll pray that the light of the gospel goes forth in West Chicago and that the Lord would use us to spread the good news of Jesus Christ in our community.
