Midweek Update: May 15, 2024

Dear Faith Community Church Family,

In the opening eleven chapters of the Bible, we read the foundational stories of creation, the fall, the flood, and also that brief, but critical narrative about a people who settled on a plain in the land of Shinar. It’s the story we call “The Tower of Babel.” The people said together: “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” These people were not marked by humility or obedience. They were refusing to “fill the earth” as God had told human beings to do back in Genesis 1. Yet, in the midst of this waywardness, God is still in control and works out his purposes of grace to the glory of his name. This Sunday we welcome back Wade Urig, Director of Discipleship at Naperville Presbyterian Church, to share God’s Word with us. The sermon text for this Sunday is Genesis 11:1-9.
