May 29 Midweek Update

Dear Faith Community Church Family,

The people who heard Jesus teach during his earthly ministry had all sorts of ideas about the Kingdom of God–what it was, how it would come, what it would mean for God’s people. In particular, many believed that the Kingdom of God would arrive suddenly, with pomp and fanfare. Jesus, however, surprises many of his hearers when he teaches that the Kingdom of God oftentimes grows imperceptibly, like a seed begins to grow in the earth apart from anyone seeing its first signs of growth. He also teaches that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed; it may have a humble beginning but it will eventually grow tall and put out “large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade” (Mark 4:32). God works in mysterious ways, which requires us to have the eyes of faith. This Sunday, come ready to allow God’s Word to challenge your view of the Kingdom of God and to rejoice in the greatness of his continued kingdom work in our midst! The sermon passage for this Sunday is Mark 4:26-34.

Please prepare your hearts through confession and prayer to gather together for the Lord’s Supper this Sunday.

Our June 8th Community Celebration (11am-3pm) will be here soon! This Sunday, immediately following the worship service, we will have a five minute meeting in the Worship Center where we will receive important details about the event and specific areas where we still have needs. Please continue to pray that the Lord would bless the Community Celebration and use this event as an opportunity to love and bless our neighbors.
