Dear Faith Community Church Family,
This Sunday we welcome our Director of Community Outreach, Jonathan Keller, to Faith Community Church. We rejoice in the Lord’s provision as we’ve prayerfully pursued the hiring of God’s choice for this important role. Jonathan was raised in Sugarland, Texas and has served with two church plants in addition to working with the PCA’s Reformed University Fellowship. He comes to us from St. Louis, where he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from our denomination’s seminary, Covenant Theological Seminary. Please continue to pray for Jonathan as he moves into the parsonage at 870 Main St. on Saturday and joins us for his first official day on Sunday.
This Lord’s Day we turn our attention to the feeding of the five thousand in Mark 6:33-44, where Jesus is revealed as the Shepherd-King sent to restore and redeem God’s people. Our satisfaction, spiritual yearnings, and deepest desires are all met in Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd.

Thank you for your prayers as our family was in Alabama these past two weeks. The Lord kept us safe on the journey and we had a wonderful time visiting my parents, spending time with my siblings, and getting to see my sister’s beautiful three-week-old daughter.
Furnishings for 8** Main St. Parsonage
As Jonathan Keller moves into the parsonage at *** Main Street (next to the Austin’s home), he is looking for some furniture, such as chairs, dressers, nightstands, end tables, storage for blankets or knick knacks, a guest bed, and lamps. If you have any items to share, please contact Tim Wierenga.
This Saturday: Church Membership Class Begins (9:00am-Noon; Room 3/4)
This Saturday we will begin our next membership class. Each class session will be taught by Pastor Rhett and will take place in room 3/4. Following the class on August 24th, the Austins will host a lunch for all those attending. Cello and Harp Concert: Saturday August 24 (6:30pm)
The next RealConcert will take place on Satuday, August 24. This chamber music concert will include “Summertime” by George Gershwin, jazz & more, and will feature Kevin Brown on guitar and Jake Muzzy on cello. To reserve your seats, go to realconcerts.us.
Preparation for the September Anniversary Celebration
There are a number of projects underway in preparation for our church’s fifty-year anniversary celebration! We would like to invite you to consider participating in the following tasks for the celebration:
Memory Boards: Bring your printed photos, old bulletins, brochures, tee-shirts or other FCC souvenirs to add to our memory boards! We are working on them together on Tuesdays from 1:00pm-3:00pm and Wednesdays from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Anniversary Tasks and Projects: There is a list of projects in the Mission Center we could use some help with as we prepare for the anniversary event. Please text or call Tim Wierenga (630-220-5754) if you are able to help.
Counter and Cabinet Available
As we prepare the rooms in the church for the fall celebration, we will be getting rid of some excess furniture. If you would like to provide a new home to the counter and cabinets that used to be part of the Mission Center entrance (excellent workmanship!) and are currently in the Sunday school hallway near room 6, please contact Tim Wierenga.
Prayer Requests
Dennis Dobbs: Please pray for Dennis as he undergoes a CT scan and consultations with his cardiologist and pulmonologist to address fluid in his lungs and potentially around his heart. Pray that the medications provided will be effective in resolving these concerns.
Audrey Dobbs: Please also pray for Audrey Dobbs, who is ill while her husband is hospitalized.
Karla Van Der Molen: Continue to pray for strength for Karla and Gary as they attend to Karla’s ALS.
Christine Kepner: Please continue to pray for Christine’s recovery from spinal fusion surgery.
Mike Horyn: Praise God that the pathology report on Mike’s bladder showed no sign of cancer.
Joe Paglia: Please pray for strength and encouragement for Joe as he undergoes treatment for a pinched nerve in his neck.
