Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Valerie and I want to thank you for such a kind and servant-hearted response over this past week as we were at Loyola Hospital with our 17-month-old Mary Hope to be treated at the burn intensive care unit following an accident at home. Mary Hope is improving each day, and she has been a trooper through it all. We praise God that the burns she experienced were not more severe, and we also thank God for the exceptional care he provided at the Lurie ER wing at CDH and Loyola. We are also so grateful to you and to the Lord for the prayers, cards, and meals provided. The words of the Apostle Paul come to mind as I think about the care you have shown for our family: “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.”
This Sunday, our very own Lawrence Owinya will preach God’s Word from 2 Corinthians 1:1-11. Lawrence and his wife Simple founded Reaching Frontiers, a nonprofit mission in Uganda focused on working with local churches to train and mobilize Christians for cross cultural ministry. Lawrence is currently a graduate student at Wheaton Graduate School. He and Simple moved to Chicago from Uganda in 2023.

Hurricane Helene Relief Fund
We have an opportunity to show the love and mercy of Jesus Christ to those in North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene by giving to a relief fund overseen by Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory, North Carolina, where former FCC pastor Nick Perrin serves as Senior Pastor. If you would like to give to this fund, please write your check to Faith Community Church and clearly indicate that the check is for the hurricane relief fund. You may also give online through our church’s website at this link.
Chamber Music Concert: This Saturday, October 26 (6:30pm)
There will be a chamber music concert this Saturday, October 26 at 6:30pm in the Worship Center. It will feature cello solos by Jake Muzzy of music performed throughout the year. To reserve seats go to realconcerts.us or contact Jake Muzzy. You can make a donation online when you reserve your seat or you may pay at the concert in cash or check.
Embracing Hope Gathering: Saturday, November 9 (9:30am-11:00am)
All ladies are invited to join us on Saturday, November 9 from 9:30am to 11:00am for a Thanksgiving Fellowship at the home of Amy-Jo Wierenga. Please RSVP to Jenny Johnson or sign up in the narthex or at Tuesday/Wednesday Bible study.
Ways to Connect after the Service
Are you new to the church or want to get better connected to the life of the church? Stay after the service for Fellowship Time in the Mission Center (just follow the crowd) to enjoy conversation and treats with others. You can also fill out a Connection Card at the table under the “Welcome to Faith Community Church” sign in the narthex and give it to Jonathan Keller. Jonathan would also love to grab a coffee, meal, or walk with you to talk about any questions you may have about the church.
Church Choir Singers Wanted
Choir has started, and all those interested in joining the choir may email our choir director, Jenn Wright. Rehearsal takes place once a month and is held the Wednesday evening (6:30-7:30pm) before the Sunday the choir sings. All voice parts welcome!
