Dear Faith Community Family,
Happy Thanksgiving! What a joy it is to participate in church life with fellow Christians! As Paul shares in Philippians chapter 1 verses 3-6 “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
This coming Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. Our advent theme is “For Us and For Our Salvation.” Pastor Don Johnson will be preaching from the pulpit from Genesis 1:1, 1 Corinthians 8:5-6, and Colossians 1:15-17. His sermon title is “True God from True God”. A decorating committee did a wonderful job of preparing the church for this season; many thanks to them for their creativity and their hard work. We will have treats available in the Narthex before the service starts, so plan on arriving a little early to fellowship and share in the goodies.
The Women’s Ministry Christmas Gathering is Saturday, December 7 at 9:30am at the Church. Also on Saturday, December 7 the Church will be participating in the Frosty Fest caroling in the evening in downtown West Chicago. On Thursday, December 19 we will have a “Blue Christmas Service” at 7pm. We will have a carol sing at Church on December 22 at 11:15am. And we will hold our Christmas Eve service on December 24 at 6:30pm.
Calling all men of the Church! We will be having our annual White Elephant Breakfast on December 14 at 9am in the Mission Center. Do you have a fun item to share with someone else? Wrap it and bring it; the guideline for giving is to find something in your house that you would like to have go to someone else’s house. It is as easy as that! Join in the fellowship.
