Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Happy New Year! We give thanks that our Lord, in His faithfulness, has brought us through another year, and we long for the day when Jesus will come back to restore all things. As we look to pick up our Mark series again this Sunday with Mark 9:14-29, the Lord in His providence is reminding us of how dependent we are on Him. Many of us may make New Year’s resolutions and later drop them, and we find our willpower feeble in the face of our entrenched habits. Thankfully, our Lord does not run this world on our willpower but on His – so look to the Lord for your strength and sustenance each day because you are not supposed to rely on yourself!

Christmas De-Decorators Needed! Saturday, January 4th starting at 9:30am
Christmas has come and gone, so we are taking down our beloved Christmas decorations. Come help us this Saturday morning starting at 9:30am to get the church back into its normal state for the new year.
Men’s Lunch: January 8, 12:00pm @ The Country House in Geneva
All men are invited to attend the monthly men’s lunch next Wednesday, January 8 at noon at The Country House in Geneva (2095 Kirk Road).
Tuesday Women’s Bible Study resumes January 14 (7:00-8:45pm)
Tuesday night Women’s Bible Study will resume on January 14th from 7:00-8:45pm. We will meet at Jenny Johnson’s home (900 High Ride Dr., West Chicago) and finish our last three lessons on the Psalms.
Blanket Ministry resumes Monday, January 13th (10:30am)
Blanket Ministry will resume at 10:30am on Monday, January 13th in Room 7. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. All ladies are invited.
Congregational Meeting: Sunday, January 19th
Our January congregational meeting will be in the Worship Center following the service on Sunday, January 19th. Among other important items will be our vote to elect our elder and deacon candidates. All members are encouraged to attend.
New Church Directories:
The new church directories are almost ready to go! Pictures will be taken early next year – it’s not that far away now! We will take sign-ups for new directories and directory page updates soon, but if you would like an electronic copy of the new directory, please contact Diane Walker.. We plan to have new directories available for those who do not have one yet (one per family) and page updates at the congregational meeting on Sunday, January 19th, or shortly thereafter.
Prayer Requests:
Karla Van Der Molen: Continue to pray for encouragement, peace, and provision for Karla and Gary as they attend to Karla’s ALS.
Garrett Klein: Prayers for healing for Nick Klein’s nephew and godson, Garrett, as he undergoes cancer treatments.
