Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We look forward to Pastor Rhett’s preaching Mark 9:30-50 this coming Sunday as we continue our series in Mark. After the Transfiguration, Jesus is heading to the cross and teaches His disciples bit by bit what true discipleship looks like. Common gurus of both His day and ours may tell us that power lies in greatness and triumph, but true discipleship in Jesus’ mind is a way of service and of suffering. Take heart, though, that a brighter glory awaits us on the other side of that service and suffering!

Special Guest in Sunday School on Sunday, January 12th (11:15am)
Ted Powers will teach for us this Sunday during the Sunday School hour on Spiritual Conversations. He’ll expand on what we learned last semester about relational outreach to better equip us for the work of evangelism and outreach. Come join us after Fellowship Time this week!
Men’s Bible Study on Saturday, January 11th (8:00am)
The Saturday morning men’s Bible study will be at the church in room 1 while Larry’s house continues to be renovated. We will continue with chapter 5 of The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul.
Tuesday Women’s Bible Study resumes January 14 (7:00-8:45pm)
Tuesday night Women’s Bible Study will resume on January 14th from 7:00-8:45pm. We will meet at Jenny Johnson’s home and finish our last three lessons on the Psalms.
Blanket Ministry resumes Monday, January 13th (10:30am)
Blanket Ministry will resume at 10:30am on Monday, January 13th in Room 7. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. All ladies are invited.
Congregational Meeting: Sunday, January 19th
Our January congregational meeting will be in the Worship Center following the service on Sunday, January 19th. Among other important items will be our vote to elect our elder and deacon candidates. All members are encouraged to attend.

Pictures for the Directory will be taken this Sunday following the service for those new to our congregation or for anyone who would like to update theirs. Thanks to Bryan Van Zanten for his photography skills!
The new church Directories will soon be ready to go! Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex if you need a directory or directory page updates. We plan to have new directories available for those who do not have one yet (one per family) and page updates at the congregational meeting on Sunday, January 19th, or shortly thereafter.
Prayer Requests:
Karla Van Der Molen: Continue to pray for encouragement, peace, and provision for Karla and Gary as they attend to Karla’s ALS.
Ellen Horyn: Pray for healing for Ellen as she continues to undergo treatment in the hospital for seizures, and for strength for Mike as he waits by her side.
Garrett Klein: Prayers for healing for Nick Klein’s nephew and godson, Garrett, as he undergoes cancer treatments.
