Dear Faith Family,
Pastor Rhett will preach to us from Mark 10:17-31, the passage known as the “Rich Young Ruler” to many of us. Interestingly, each of the three Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) that record this story describe the young man in slightly different terms. In Mark’s telling, he is only a “rich young man.” The reward for those in Christ is recorded at the end of this passage. While we may have to give up earthly possessions or even family ties, the Lord promises to more than compensate us for that loss. He promises a hundredfold of those things and even eternal life in the age to come! Rejoice that the Lord calls us to sacrifice for His kingdom’s sake but will surely lavish on us blessing upon blessing as a loving Father.Please join us in person, or, if you cannot attend, please worship with us on the livestream by clicking here.

Communion This Sunday
We celebrate the Lord’s supper together on the first Sunday of every month, so this Sunday will be our communion celebration. In advance of the Lord’s supper, take some time this week to reflect on the Lord’s sacrifice for us and on the reality that we enjoy some spiritual fellowship with our Lord in communion.
Congregational Meeting: Sunday, February 2 at 11:00am
Our congregational meeting is this Sunday at 11:00am in the Worship Center. We will have a brief break between the service and the congregational meeting. We will discuss where the church has been over the past six months as well as what we look forward to in the next six months, and we will have the church budget numbers available. All are welcome to attend, and members are especially encouraged to attend.
Ellen Horyn Memorial Service: Saturday, February 8 at 11:00am
The memorial service for Ellen Horyn will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, February 8 here at the church. A time to visit with the family will begin before the service at 9:30am. A luncheon will immediately follow the memorial. Flowers may be sent to Faith Community Church.
Chicago Friends of Haiti Christmas Giving Update
Our church participated in the Chicago Friends of Haiti’s Advent Giving campaign. Thanks to our efforts and those of local PCA churches, we were able to send $19,000 in scholarship assistance to send Haitian children to a Christian school in Cavaillon, $40,000 in medical supplies, $8,500 in food supplies, $500 in French Bibles, and $17,000 toward ongoing orphan care for children recently placed into families. Praise God for His work in the church in Haiti, and continue to pray for the growth of God’s kingdom as well as civil peace in that country.
