Dear Faith Community Church Family,
For many Christians, the spiritual life is something reserved for Sunday morning. They get up, go to church, listen to a sermon, maybe talk with a few other people about the events of their week, then it’s back to their “real life.” To reduce the Christian life to attending a church service is to entirely misunderstand the all-encompassing call of Christ upon our lives.
When we come to Jesus for salvation, there is no part of us that he does not get. Does following Jesus require us to put his words into action? Yes. Does following Jesus mean that we must give ourselves to the study of his Word so that it transforms our thinking? Definitely. Does being a disciple of the Savior mean allowing him to rework our emotions? Certainly. How about the way we view our jobs, our marriage, our finances? Jesus’ words in Mark 12:30-31 are all-encompassing: “‘And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” This Sunday we come to Mark 12:28-34 in our sermon series Follow Me.
Please prepare your hearts beforehand through prayer and confession of sin in preparation for taking the Lord’s Supper.

Easter Explored: April 27, May 4, and May 18 at 5pm in Room 1
More than bunnies and lilies, Easter is the proclamation for Christians everywhere that Jesus is not dead but alive and reigning on His heavenly throne even now. Do you or a neighbor, co-worker, friend, or family member have questions or any curiosity about why Christians care about Easter and the resurrection so much? Easter Explored, on April 27th, May 4th, and May 18th at 5pm in Room 1, is the perfect chance to discuss what all the Easter fuss is about. Dinner is provided! Easter Invite Canvassing: Help Wanted!
To help our neighbors hear about our upcoming Holy Week services (and even pray with them!), Pastor Rhett and Jonathan will be handing out Easter invite cards door-to-door on the afternoons of April 9, April 14, and April 16 from 2-4pm. We simply want to let the folks around our church know that 1) our services are happening and they are invited and 2) that the church wants to minister to them as much as we can. Let Jonathan know if you’d like to come on any of these days (or possibly other days!) to hand out invites.
Easter Lilies
If you would like to order an Easter Lily, please sign up on the sheet in the narthex. They are $12.00 and you may take them home following the Easter Sunday Service.
Prayer Requests
Phyl Holt: Please pray for encouragement and healing for Phyl Holt as she continues to heal from a stroke in Pine View Care Center in St. Charles.
Gary and Karla Van Der Molen: Please pray for strength for Gary after a recent hospitalization; continue to pray for encouragement and provision for Gary and Karla as they attend to Karla’s ALS.
Joanna & Meng Koh: Joanna (Wierenga) and Meng Koh are expecting twins in April. Pray for protection and health for babies and mother.
