Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Do you ever wonder (at least in your heart) whether evil will ultimately have the last word in world history? One clear teaching of Scripture is that Jesus Christ (or the “Son of Man” as he refers to himself in Mark 13:26) has conquered sin and death through his own death and resurrection. Evil does not have the upper hand. It never has. It never will. At the Second Coming, the defeat of evil will be total, complete. Evil will not be able to creep into any corner of the New Heavens and the New Earth. Jesus reigns over evil right now and will one day vanquish it forever. Rest in this truth as we look forward to our time together in God’s Word this Lord’s Day. The sermon passage for this Sunday is Mark 13:14-27.

This Friday: Karla Van Der Molen Funeral (2pm; Worship Center)
This Friday the funeral service for Karla Van Der Molen will be held in the Worship Center. There will be a family-only visitation at 11am, followed by a visitation for all from 12pm to 2pm. Men’s Bible Study: Meet at the Church this Saturday (8am; Room 1)
Men’s Bible Study will meet at the church this Saturday (8am). There will be no Bible study on Saturday, May 24 in light of Memorial Day.

This Sunday: Special Fellowship Time in Honor of Karla Van Der Molen
This Sunday, following the worship service, we’ll have a special fellowship time with refreshments, desserts, and a Scripture reflection from Pastor Rhett in honor of Karla Van Der Molen. We invite you to contribute baked goods, fruit, desserts or any refreshments you would like to bring for our fellowship time. Our final Sunday school class of the year will begin at the usual time on Sunday (11:15am).

Prayer Requests
Jonathan Keller: Please pray for our Director of Community Outreach as he takes his oral licensure exam tomorrow morning (Thursday) before the Chicago Metro Presbytery licensing committee, and prepares to come before the Chicago Metro Presbytery next Wednesday for a final examination.
Phyl Holt: Pray for encouragement and strength for Phyl as she continues to heal from a recent stroke and prepares to move back into her house.
Gary Van Der Molen: Pray for Gary and his family as they mourn Karla’s passing. Pray for Gary as he continues to undergo his own treatments.
