Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We continue our 3-week series on 1 Peter 2 this Sunday with 1 Peter 2:4-8. These verses speak of believers as living stones, built up together to be a spiritual house. As part of our Donut Day this past Saturday, Mark helped me to design a structurally sound banner-post setup for our Community Celebration banner outside of the church. With one simple bar to connect two posts, he took a pair of leaning poles to sturdy ones that can hold up to the high winds in our area. Each piece of the structure can now distribute forces evenly so as to not overly stress any single point. When the Scriptures speak of us being built up as a spiritual house, this is part of what they intended! Each of us in our place holds up the others in times of great stress, all founded on Christ Himself, so that the whole structure can stand for generations to come for the glory of His name.

Men’s Lunch: June 11th, 12pm at Hummingbird Restaurant
Men’s Lunch this month will be at the Hummingbird Restaurant in Winfield (27W229 Geneva Rd), noon on June 11th. Let Larry know if you need a ride. Join us for a time to fellowship with each other.
Congregational Meeting: June 29th immediately after Service
Our summer congregational meeting will be June 29th right after the service. We will meet for a time of prayer, updates on where the church has been as well as things to look forward to, and presenting the budget for the next year. We will have a Q&A time during the meeting for any questions that you may have about anything related to the church. All members are encouraged to attend.
Community Celebration: June 14th, 11am-3pm
Our 2nd annual Community Celebration is coming up on Saturday, June 14th from 11am-3pm. We will have food trucks (free for anyone who comes!) and games for you and our community to enjoy while helping our community know that our church is here for them. We are still taking donations to offset the cost of some of these expenses. We are also looking for volunteers to supervise some of these activities and especially set up! There is a signup poster in the narthex, or you can let Jonathan know if you’d like to volunteer. Thank you to those who have already donated and are signed up.
Community Celebration Canvassing: June 9th and 11th, 9-11am
To help get the word out about our Community Celebration, we are knocking on doors and handing out invitations in the neighborhood just around the church. Please note the time for this canvassing round – Jonathan will head out in the mornings (weather permitting) to avoid the hot part of the day. Let Jonathan know if you’d like to help hand out invitations!
Caring Network Baby Bottle Drive: Turn in on June 15th
Remember to bring your baby bottles filled with donations for Caring Network back to church on Father’s Day (June 15th)!
Prayer Requests
Dennis Dobbs: Thank God for a successful heart surgery on Monday. Pray for ongoing direction from the doctors and for Dennis’ full recovery.
Nick Wetherington: Nick and Lily married on May 31st and are enjoying their honeymoon! Thank the Lord for overseeing all parts of the ceremony and pray for a great start to their marriage.
Tom Ollendorf: Tom is scheduled to have hernia surgery on June 12; pray for strength and a swift recovery.
Simple Owinya: Pray for Simple in her final stages of pregnancy and for both Lawrence and Simple to be equipped with compassion and grace as future parents.
Phyl Holt: Pray for encouragement and strength for Phyl as she continues to heal from a stroke.
Gary Van Der Molen: Pray for Gary and his family as they mourn Karla’s passing. Pray for Gary as he continues to undergo his own treatments.
