Dear Faith Community Church Family,
God’s work of redemption under the old covenant and his work of redemption through Christ in the new covenant are not two paths of salvation. God did not change his mind about how he would bring salvation to the world before sending Jesus to this earth as our Savior. The old covenant pointed to the coming of Christ; the new covenant has been initiated in and through Jesus Christ.
The Lord’s Supper is one of two sacraments (with baptism) of the new covenant. It was on Passover in the upper room when Jesus initiated this new covenant sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, or Communion. In this special covenantal meal we commune with our Lord and with his people, reflect on the death of Christ and his future coming, and are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to live in a way fully pleasing to God. This Sunday we turn our attention to Mark 14:22-25, where Jesus establishes the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.
Please take time to prepare your hearts for communion this Sunday through prayer and confession of sin.

Funeral for Gary Van Der Molen: Saturday, July 12
The visitation and funeral for Gary Van Der Molen will take place on Saturday, July 12 at Faith Community Church. A visitation will take place from 10:00am to noon. The funeral service will begin at noon. A luncheon open to all will be held at Cooper’s Corner (27W150 Roosevelt Rd, Winfield, IL 60190) beginning at approximately 1:15pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ALS United or Faith Community Church.
Men’s Bible Study
Men’s Saturday morning Bible study is taking a break during the summer and will resume in September.
Women’s Bible Study: Wednesdays at 10:00am
The Wednesday morning women’s Bible study is meeting throughout the summer. You are welcome to join anytime. It is a great place to enjoy midweek fellowship and study God’s Word together.

Prayer Requests
Van Der Molen Family: Please pray that the Lord would comfort the family and friends of Gary Van Der Molen after our brother went to be with the Lord last Saturday.
Owinya Family: Praise God for the birth of Aloya; pray that the Lord would give strength to Lawrence and Simple as they adjust to parenthood.
Larry LaBelle: Praise God for a successful knee replacement surgery; pray for a quick recovery as Larry continues physical therapy.
