Dear Faith Community Church Family,
Our God is both Creator and Redeemer. Our very existence is dependent upon him; our salvation is equally dependent upon him. The gift of being and the gift of forgiveness are from him and to his glory.
One God-given avenue to glorify our triune Creator is through art. I’m sure many of you have seen it already, but we now have a beautiful art installation in the classroom hallway celebrating the majesty of our Creator God and the exquisite beauty of his creation. The photography is the work of fellow church member Bryan Van Zanten. Bryan is passionate about portraying the glory of God in creation through his artwork. The photography follows the six days of creation in Genesis 1, and was taken almost exclusively in local settings. Every detail of this universe proclaims the excellencies of Jesus Christ!
If you are in the Mission Center lobby this week and next, you’ll notice a bit of dust–the new alcove is under construction! This is the fruit of your faithful giving to our Called to Flourish Campaign! The alcove is not just a “resting” spot, but a place which will communicate our commitment to be “for the growth of his church, and the good of the community.” It is a space where hospitality, prayer, and discipleship will happen. Thanks to all who have been a part of overseeing this Called to Flourish project.
The Austins thank you for your prayers over the past two weeks as we traveled to Alabama, visiting my parents, and reconnecting with my brothers, sister, and their families. Our family had a wonderful and refreshing time together, and the Lord kept us safe as we traveled the thousand-mile drive (one way!) to the Gulf and back.
This Sunday we turn our attention to the sobering, but salvation-securing work of Jesus upon the cross in Mark 15:21-32.

Vision Campaign Giving Letters
Soon you will be receiving a letter from the elders which includes your original financial pledge to the Vision Campaign in addition to the amount you have given to date. Thank you for your continued faithfulness in fulfilling your campaign pledges which has continued to allow us to pursue our Vision Campaign goals.
August 13: Men’s Lunch
The monthly men’s lunch will be held next Wednesday, August 13 at Larry LaBelle’s house. All men are invited to attend.
August 16: C.S. Lewis Institute at FCC!
The C.S. Lewis Institute is a Christian ministry that trains disciples to live for Jesus in every area of life. Pastor Rhett recently completed the Fellows Program, a one-year discipleship course with the C.S. Lewis Institute. Our church will be hosting an event on Saturday, August 16 from 9:00am to 11:30am focused on “Distractions in the Christian Life” and taught by Dr. Tom Schwanda. This event is free and is open to all. Feel free to invite family and friends to join you!
Sunday Morning Volunteers Needed
Nursery, kitchen, communion set up, video or sound tech, and more! Being a volunteer requires a commitment of only a couple of times a year. If you would like to serve on Sunday mornings, please get in touch with Katie Wetherington in the church office. Thank you to all who faithfully serve each Sunday.
Prayer Requests and Praises
Pat Elam: Praise God for many years of wonderful ministry to those recovering from addictions and behavioral concerns. Pray for Pat as she is on hospice care for lung cancer that she would hold fast to the Lord in this stage of her life and pray for the board of Eleeo as they transition to the next phase of ministry.
Mike Horyn: Pray for Mike as he undergoes health tests.
Garret Klein: Praise God that Nick Klein’s nephew, Garret, is now cancer free. The Klein family sends their heartfelt thanks for the faithful prayers of our congregation.
