Dear Faith Community Church Family,
This Sunday we turn our attention to the death that brought us life in Mark 15:33-47. Here, our crucified Savior cried out in anguish as He breathed His last, and He was whisked away to a tomb before the Sabbath began.
I encourage you to take time this week to reflect on that time before the story turns to Easter morning. Jesus’ disciples spent a Sabbath, their weekly church service, in mourning for their Lord whom they had served for three years. In Mark’s Gospel, in fact, the disciples are nowhere to be seen when Jesus died! Meditate on how the Lord was cast out because our rebellion deserved that kind of shame. Praise the Lord, though, that death is not the final word for Jesus or for us. Praise Him that the Lord of life and death reigns even now above the highest heavens, advancing even now against all the forces that threaten to ensnare His people.

August 16: C.S. Lewis Institute at FCC!
The C.S. Lewis Institute is a Christian ministry that trains disciples to live for Jesus in every area of life. Pastor Rhett recently completed the Fellows Program, a one-year discipleship course with the C.S. Lewis Institute. Our church will be hosting an event on Saturday, August 16 from 9:00am to 11:30am focused on “Distractions in the Christian Life” and taught by Dr. Tom Schwanda. Sunday Morning Volunteers Needed
Nursery, kitchen, communion set up, video or sound tech, and more! Being a volunteer requires a commitment of only a couple of times a year. Prayer Requests and Praises
Pat Elam: Praise God for many years of wonderful ministry to those recovering from addictions and behavioral concerns. Pray for Pat as she is on hospice care for lung cancer that she would hold fast to the Lord in this stage of her life and pray for the board of Eleeo as they transition to the next phase of ministry.
Mike Horyn: Pray for Mike as he undergoes health tests.
Evalyn Tyler: Pray for Evalyn and her family as she was recently put on hospice care, that God would be her strength and comfort.
