Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Spiritual renewal is the Holy Spirit’s work of bringing about spiritual transformation in God’s people. It’s when spiritual lethargy is replaced with life, and indifference is replaced with a holy zeal. On Sunday, we saw a beautiful picture of spiritual renewal as we looked at the example of King Josiah in 2 Chronicles 34-35. Spiritual renewal involves (1) a return to the law of God (the Scriptures), (2) transformation of the leadership of God’s people, (3) repentance and the receiving of forgiveness in Christ, and (4) immediate obedience. Let’s be steadfast in praying for and pursuing spiritual renewal in our lives, our congregation, and the church in the United States

Pat Elam at Home with the Lord
Our beloved sister and long-time FCC-supported missionary, Pat Elam, passed away this morning. A faithful follower of Jesus, Pat and her husband Bill started ELEEO, a Christ-centered 12-step recovery and support group. Please pray that the Lord would comfort and strengthen Pat’s family in the days ahead.
Evalyn Tyler Memorial Service (Saturday, September 20)
Evalyn Tyler’s memorial service is scheduled for this Saturday, September 20 at 1:00pm in the Worship Center. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon in the Mission Center.
Outreach Event: Paint Your Heart Out with FCC Missionary Alison Regnier (September 27; 10:00am in the Mission Center)
On September 27, FCC missionary and artist Alison Regnier will lead an outreach event at our church. Alison uses painting as a means of sharing the gospel and will guide participants through a workshop that combines painting and prayer exercises. This workshop is for both artists and non-artists and requires no previous experience. The cost is $20 and includes all materials. Payment can be made in cash or through our church’s website. If the cost is a barrier to your attendance, please let an elder know. Bring your own apron or old T-shirt and a journal for note-taking.
Real Concert (September 27; 6:30pm)
The next Real Concert will be held on September 27 at 6:30pm in the Worship Center. It will feature the music of Mendelssohn with Mike Messer on piano, Danny Seidenberg on violin, and Jake Muzzy on cello.
Church Workday (“Donut Day”; October 4, 9:30am-Noon)
Come for a morning of fellowship and service as we work together to clean and restore the building and grounds of our church property.
Women’s Self-Defense Class (October 4; 3:00pm-4:30pm)
All ladies ages 12 and up are invited to participate in a free self-defense seminar on Saturday, October 4, from 3-4pm. All experience levels are welcome. Please see or call Natalie Wierenga for further information.

Discipleship Night: The Christian Worldview (October 5, 5:30pm)
Our first Discipleship Night is coming up soon. Discipleship Nights are an opportunity for us to come together and discuss important contemporary issues in the Christian life. During this first gathering, Pastor Rhett will teach on the Christian worldview, compare it with other contemporary worldviews, and then share practical ways to live out the Christian worldview in daily life. There will also be time for questions and discussion. Light refreshments will be provided.
Choir Starting Soon!
The choir’s first rehearsal will be Wednesday, September 24 at 6:30pm. If you are a vocalist and are interested in joining, please email Jenn Wright.
Sunday Morning Volunteers Needed
Nursery, kitchen, communion set up, video or sound tech, and more! Being a volunteer requires a commitment of only a couple of times a year. Family of Pat Elam: Pray that the Lord would comfort the family of Pat Elam, who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning.
Kay Campbell’s Sister-in-Law: Please pray that the Lord would bring healing to Kay Campbell’s sister-in-law who recently suffered a stroke and is in the hospital.
Family of Evalyn Tyler: Pray for strength and comfort for the family of Evalyn Tyler, who went to be with the Lord on August 28.
