Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Have you kept in mind this week Paul’s words from Romans 8:32? Here they are once again:
“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”
This is a divine promise that holds for eternity. It is the very foundation for the Christian life. Our God’s love for his peoples is so immense and so vast that he gave us a gift unlike any other–the gift of Jesus Christ! And if he has given us his own Son, we can be certain that he will give us all things that will lead us to bring greater glory to him and to find an ever-deepening joy in him! So go to the Lord this week with confidence as his forgiven child, praying bold prayers and trusting in his sovereign will.
This Sunday we continue to focus upon spiritual renewal–its necessity in our lives, our churches, and our nation. We’ll turn to a familiar passage, Ezekiel 17:22-24, while also focusing our attention on Ephesians 4:11-16. These passages provide us with a clear vision–God’s vision!–for his redeemed people as we seek to live as faithful followers of Christ in this world.
Please prepare your hearts through prayer and confession of sin to come together for communion this Sunday.

This Saturday: Church Workday (“Donut Day”; 9:30am-Noon)
Come for a morning of fellowship and service as we work together to clean and restore the building and grounds of our church property.
This Saturday: Women’s Self-Defense Class (3:00pm-4:30pm)
All ladies ages 12 and up are invited to participate in a free self-defense seminar this Saturday, October 4, from 3-4pm. All experience levels are welcome. Please see or call Natalie Wierenga for further information.
This Sunday: Discipleship Night on the Christian Worldview (5:30pm; Worship Center)
Everyone has a worldview, but many people have not stopped to think through what their worldview actually is or where it came from. Christians are called to not “be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2). For believers, our worldview needs to constantly be brought into alignment with the Scriptures. This Sunday evening at 5:30pm in the Worship Center, we’ll hold our first Discipleship Night focused on the Christian worldview. Pastor Rhett will teach and there will be plenty of time for discussion. Light refreshments will be provided. No registration necessary.
Saturday Morning Men’s Bible Study: October 4th and October 11th at 8:00am in Room 1
The men’s Saturday morning Bible Study will meet at the church in room 1 for the next 2 weeks (October 4th and October 11th). Dennis Dobbs will lead us through the next few chapters in Forgive by Tim Keller.

Monthly Men’s Lunch (Wednesday, October 8; Noon)
All men are invited to the monthly men’s lunch on Wednesday, October 8 at noon. The lunch this month will be at the Country House (2095 S. Kirk Rd. Geneva, IL 60134).
Shopping to Benefit Caring Network

Sunday Morning Volunteers Needed
Nursery, kitchen, communion set up, video or sound tech, and more! Being a volunteer requires a commitment of only a couple of times a year. Prayer Requests and Praises
Family of Pat Elam: Pray that our God would comfort the family of Pat Elam, who went to be with the Lord on September 17.
Ray Bebee: Pray for Ray as he deals with health issues and has some upcoming tests.
Kay Campbell’s Sister-in-Law: Please pray that the Lord would bring healing to Kay Campbell’s sister-in-law who recently suffered a stroke.
