Dear Faith Community Church Family,
The sermon passage for this Sunday is Exodus 7:8-11:10. If you remember anything from the book of Exodus, you will probably remember these chapters because they cover the ten plagues God sent against Egypt. Lest we become swept up in the glamor of these calamities, recall what God intended by them. Exodus 7:5 says that God would use these plagues so that the Egyptians would know that God is the LORD. Though harsh in its appearance, this display would be God’s revealing Himself to the captors of His people. These catastrophes pointed toward the Lord in His power, a Lord who is also merciful and gracious toward those in His fold. What appeared as judgment to one people enacted redemption for the other! I encourage you to ponder this week how these two truths can come together.
