Dear Faith Community Church Family,
He is risen! (I assume you said, “He is risen, indeed!” to your screen in response) Our Lord is not dead but is alive and lives forever, seated on David’s throne to rule over us. In Him we died to our sins, and in Him we rose to everlasting life! Recount to yourself that great salvation that was given to you by free grace and not by any works of your own.
We return to our Exodus series with a recollection of another momentous occasion: the Song of Moses in Exodus 15:1-21. Here Moses sings of the Lord as a mighty warrior using His strength of the force of nature itself to overcome the overwhelming Egyptian forces. As we remember His mighty salvation toward us in Jesus Christ, let us use this song to point forward to the greater exodus we celebrated in our Lord’s resurrection.

Follow-Up to Congregational Meeting on African Outreach
Last month, the elders shared about the exciting opportunity we have as a congregation to pursue gospel outreach and a future church plant in our African immigrant community through the work of Lawrence Owinya. Please be in prayer for Lawrence and this work and consider making a financial commitment to support this vision to reach this community in the western suburbs. Our goal as a congregation is to raise $25,000 to support Lawrence in this gospel work (approximately one third of the necessary funds).
Commitment forms are available in the narthex. Please wait to give any funds to this project until the beginning of May (after we receive confirmation regarding Lawrence’s visa); however, we ask that if you will be submitting a commitment form, please do so by April 19. The Owinyas continue to express their appreciation for the love and care of the congregation. Please pray that both Lawrence and Simple will receive their visas within the next few weeks so that we can continue to move forward with this important work in the African immigrant community.
Resurrection Explored: Sunday Evenings Beginning April 12th at 5pm
Following our Easter celebration this Sunday, we will have three sessions for Resurrection Explored! Beginning on April 12th at 5pm in Room 1, I (Jonathan) will lead us in a discussion of the meaning of Christ’s resurrection and ascension for our lives. Dinner will be provided. Invite your friends, neighbors, and even strangers! Talk to Jonathan for more information.
A Praying Church Seminar (Saturday, April 25; 8:00am-3:15pm)
On April 25, our church will hold A Praying Church seminar. This is yet another opportunity for us to continue to go deeper in being a church of kingdom prayer. Many of you have read A Praying Life by Paul Miller (or attended the A Praying Life seminar held at our church). The A Praying Church seminar is focused on implementing the principles from the book of the same name. The message? Prayer is necessary not only for the individual Christian, but for the whole congregation! The seminar is being held in partnership with the C.S. Lewis Institute and is open to Faith Community Church and all others in the community. Tickets are $15.00 and can be purchased online. Lunch will be provided. If you need financial assistance to cover the cost of the ticket, please do not hesitate to speak with one of the elders.
Women’s Ministry Luncheon: Saturday, May 9th at 10am
Ladies, mark your calendars! Our Women’s Ministry will have their spring Luncheon in the Mission Center at 10am on Saturday, May 9th. Ladies, sign-ups will go up soon to help decorate.
