Dear Faith Community Church Family,
God be praised for a wonderful prayer seminar this past weekend with A Praying Church and the C.S. Lewis Institute. Let us also praise Him for how He has worked in our church to make us a people of kingdom prayer, and let us continue to dig deeper routes of prayer for every facet of our lives!
This Sunday, we continue our sermon series The Lord is My Strength as we turn our attention to Exodus 19:1-20:21. Here, we will see the Lord set apart His people to be a kingdom of priests as they finally reach Mt. Sinai. Look and see that the greater work, the death and resurrection of Christ, has made us a part of that very same kingdom of priests. Meditate on our sermon text this week also as we prepare for the Lord’s Supper this Sunday.

Commitment Forms for African Outreach and Church Plant
Praise God that Lawrence received his R1 visa, and keep praying for Simple to receive her R2 visa! Our goal as a congregation is to raise $25,000 to support Lawrence to launch a gospel outreach and church plant to the African diaspora community of the western suburbs (approximately 1/3 of the cost). Please continue to submit your commitment forms to the church office. Commitment forms are still available in the narthex.
Church Workday (“Donut Day”): Saturday, May 2 (9:30am-Noon)
Come for a morning of fellowship and service as we work together to clean and restore the building and grounds of our church property.
Women’s Self-Defense Class: Saturday, May 2 (3:00pm-4:30pm)
Whatever your self-defense experience or physical ability, all women ages 12+ are welcome. Come ready to move and have fun with Natalie Wierenga and Donna Siefert.
Women’s Ministry Luncheon on Saturday, May 16th (10am)
Simple Owinya will be sharing a message focused on the theme of perfect peace. Ladies, a sign-up sheet is available in the narthex to decorate. Men, a sign-up sheet is also available for serving and clean up. Tickets are $5.00. Please contact the church office to purchase tickets. For any questions, contact Jenn Wright.
Sunday School Updates
In recognition of Mother’s Day on May 10, we will not have Sunday School. Our last week of Sunday School will be on May 17th, and we will hold a prayer drive instead of our normal sermon discussion time.
Congregational Meeting: May 31st at 11:00am
Our semi-annual congregational meeting will be on Sunday, May 31st right after Fellowship Time. Come prepared to hear about ministry vision going into the fall, the budget, and about Pastor Rhett’s sabbatical. Come ready to praise God for His work in our church to continue to shape us for the glory of His name and the good of our community.
Community Celebration: Saturday, June 13th (11am-3pm)
Mark your calendars for the second Saturday of June! Returning from last year, we will host our Community Celebration to kick off the summer for us and our surrounding community. We aim to bless our community with a midday of games, music, and food trucks. Contact Jonathan Keller with any questions.

Women’s Ministry Luncheon: Please pray for the preparations of the Women’s Ministry Luncheon and for the spread of the gospel through the event and spiritual encouragement of all in attendance.
