What’s the big deal about Easter?

What does Easter mean? You’ve hunted for eggs and dressed up nice to have brunch at Grandma’s, but it’s hard to maintain the enthusiasm for spring as an adult. Is there something more to this tradition?

There is. The Christian faith declares:

For our sake [Jesus] was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

Christians believe that Jesus died in our place as a sacrifice for sins and, three days later, rose from the dead. Easter is a celebration of Jesus’ resurrection. After Jesus rose from the dead, he never died again. He’s still alive right now.

Come discuss what it all means with us. We’ll provide dinner and you just bring yourself. We’ll meet at Faith Community Church, in the church building, in room 1. Come in the Hillview (south) entrance of the building and turn directly to the left. You’ll find us!
