Dear Brothers and Sisters,
What a delight to welcome seven new members into our congregation this past Sunday! It was a joy to celebrate our new members and to show hospitality to friends and neighbors through our Sunday meal together. Many of you helped in various ways to decorate, set up, prepare, and cook. Thank you for all the ways you served our church and our guests who attended the lunch.
This Lord’s Day we begin a new Sunday school series for children through adults, all thematically focused on worship. What is worship? If worship is primarily about God, what has he told us in the Scriptures about how he desires us to worship him? Why do we do what we do during our gatherings on Sunday mornings?
We can look forward to some new aspects of Sunday school this semester. Dave Wright, our longtime music director, will be leading sections of the adult class on music and worship. In addition to this, our youth will be joining us for the first section of each class. Our FCC children will also be learning about the vital role of worship in the Christian life this fall, following a gospel-centered resource entitled Teach Me to Worship.
This Sunday the sermon passage will be Acts 13:13-52, as the missionary journey continues from the island of Cyprus up to the mainland, where Paul delivers a powerful sermon in a city called Pisidian Antioch.

A few items to keep in mind:
Fall Cleanup Morning (AKA “Donut Day”) on Saturday, October 16 (9:00am-noon)
The church fall cleanup morning will be held on Saturday, October 16 (9:00am-noon; rain date: October 23). Join us as we trim bushes, rake leaves, clean gutters–and, of course, eat donuts.
Men’s Weeknight Bible Study beginning Monday, October 4 (7:00pm-8:00pm)
If we are called to glorify God in all areas of our life, then how do we glorify him in our job (or retirement)? This fall Pastor Rhett and Don Johnson will lead a men’s Monday night study (9 weeks) on the topic of work and the Christian life. The class will follow Work That Makes a Difference by Dan Doriani. The study will be held at Don Johnson’s house. If you would like to attend, please contact Rosa Matos in the church office.
Blanket Ministry Schedule Update (10:00am)
Please note that the blanket ministry will meet on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The next meeting will be Monday, September 27 at 10:00am.
